As much as we love our furry friends, no one likes a wet dog.
Due to a 94% chance of rain, we have postponed tonight’s Yappy Hour.

Due to a 94% chance of rain, we have postponed tonight’s Yappy Hour.
Moving forward, Yappy Hour takes place every Sunday this summer from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Yappy Hour will be hosted by Groucho, a 15 lbs. rescue terrier who was returned to the shelter three times before becoming a member of the Confectionery family.
“It’s hard work taking care of our humans and sometimes we dogs need a break,” said Groucho, through a translator. “Finally, there’s an event in the Capital Region for the cosmopolitan canine to relax and unwind with fine water and gourmet treats for the sophisticated palate.”
At “Yappy Hour,” pooches, hounds and pups will enjoy a complimentary canine “charcuterie” and liver-infused water. Doggie dates will enjoy wine and beer specials.
Dog owners and their sociable furry pals can enter the garden patio through the Franklin Street Alley entrance (off Broadway). Each Yappy Hour party is asked to donate $10 to support local animal rescue organizations.

In 1867, the Charles F. Lucas Confectioner and Ladies’ Restaurant is listed at 12 Broadway. His shop and home were at 12 Broadway until 1872, when he moved his shop to 35 Congress St and his home to 12 Second Street.
In 1863 when he first opened, Charles F. Lucas was one of 11 confectioners in the Troy area.

Middlebury Blue from Blue Ledge Farm is a raw cow blue
that covers both sides of two important coins.
It is mellow but grassy and creamy but crumbly.
Middlebury Blue is a great partner for many things;
from fresh pears to crisp leafy greens to (my personal favorite) maple bacon.
Oh yes. Don't those tubular veins just make you swoon?!
If you mention bread pudding, most folks think of dessert.
At the Confectionery, we’re excited about the savory version of this classic dish.
Stop in to check out our savory bread pudding, loaded with Placid Baker Bread, red peppers, onions, shiitake and Hen of the Wood mushrooms.
Topped with Vermont Creamery Butter and Parmesan cheese. Available for a limited time.

It makes perfect sense to start this blog off by featuring my current favorite cheese:
Caveman Blue from Rogue Creamery in Central Point Oregon.
Made from (rBST free) raw cows milk
and aged a minimum of six months in lime stone walled caves;
it's golden glow and deep blue-green veins scream funky.
However, this blue is anything but.
Lacking the intense saltiness of a typical blue,
We are pleased to announce that locally-owned, award-winning Chloe Creek Pinot Noir is now available at the Confectionery.
Clifton Park residents Kim and Bill Comiskey own Chloe Creek Vineyards, located in California’s Russian River Valley.
On Wednesday, March 13 from 7-p.m., Bill and Kim will be on hand at the Confectionery to discuss the winemaking process, officially kicking off their addition to the Confectionery family.
Chloe Creek Pinot Noir is now available for $8 for a 3oz. pour, or $16 per glass.
This just in, from our friends at All Over Albany:
Later this month Lisa Loeb is coming to Troy Savings Bank Music Hall.
All Over Albany has tickets to the show — and a $50 gift certificate to the nearby Charles F. Lucas Confectionery and Wine Bar. And we’re giving them away. Maybe to you.
